Synopsis

An extraordinary portrait of true love that will move anyone who has a first love story of their own. Axi Moore is a "good girl": She studies hard, stays out of the spotlight, and doesn't tell anyone how all she really wants is to run away from it all. The only person she can tell is her best friend, Robinson--who she also happens to be madly in love with.

When Axi spontaneously invites Robinson to come with her on an impulsive cross-country road trip, she breaks the rules for the first time in her life. But the adventure quickly turns from carefree to out of control after the teens find themselves on the run from the police. And when Robinson suddenly collapses, Axi has to face the truth that this trip might be his last.
A remarkably moving tale very personal to James Patterson's own past, FIRST LOVE is testament to the power of first love--and how it can change the rest of your life.

My thoughts

This is the first love story from James Patterson that I read. I was sceptical at first because I thought crime is his forte and most likely one that he is good at. But a good writer will always know how to write a good story no matter in what genre.

The story is about a young girl who is stress up with life and wanted a way out. So, she decides to run away with her best friend. It seems normal at first, run away teenagers in their own adventure finding the world. There are many pictures in the novel, make the story more interesting and cute. Then, come the twist and it is more than you thought it is; their history and the first time they met. And just like that, the fun adventure become sad, sadder and saddest. Confession: I cried a little while reading this.

But it do have a happy ending, for a first love. It what makes the first love usually so beautiful and immortal.

Nevertheless, it is incredibly great story. I am not a big fan of love story, usually found it to be cliche and boring. But not this novel. Definitely page-turner that make me lose my beauty sleep, again. It reminds me of my first love, the fun and pain part but it nice to have a great story like that even though we do not get the end like all couples wanted to. Its memory makes you smile warmly when looking at the star, like Axi did.

Favorite Quotes: The stars we see aren't even real stars. We see the light that they gave off millions of years ago but that is only now reaching our eyes. We don't see a star as much as a memory.
